There are eight areas of competition.
Editorial Communications: Present and defend an
opinion on the sociological impact of current technological issues. venue
Explanatory Communications:Convey a technical
subject or process such that is can be understood by the general
public. venue
Parliamentary Debate: Present well-reasoned viewpoint
with a minimum of presentation time in teams of two. Sample topics
Corporate Design: Propose a solution that solves
an engineering related problem as posed by a company
Entrepreneurial Design: Develop a business plan for an innovative
product, service or process
First Year Team Design: Solve a problem that is
divulged on the day of the event. The solution must be implemented
with limited time and materials. Students will work in groups of
four.
Senior Team Design: Solve a problem that is divulged
on the day of the event. The solution must be implemented with limited
time and materials. Students will work in groups of four.
High School Competition: Event open to local high
school students.
First- and Second-Place winners will compete in the
2005 Canadian Engineering
Competition at the University of Calgary.
